People recommending lax security checks for so-called VIPs must not forget that IC-814 hijackers got bombs and guns on plane via VIP gates.

Information on hijacked Indian Airlines aircraft, IC-814 (

"A little while before the departure of IC-814 from Kathmandu, a Pakistan Embassy car (42 CD 14) arrived at the airport. Among the three officials who dismounted from the car and proceeded to the Departure Lounge was one who is believed to have supplied a consignment of RDX to a group of Punjabi militants in Kathmandu some years back."

180 passengers were held hostages, 1 killed. 3 terrorist were released, who went on attacking Indian parliament, killing Daniel Pearl, planning 9/11 and training new militants.

While we are all sharing about our Amway solicitation experiences, let me share what I've seen in the last few years.

Background: In the last 6 years, I've been approached over 2 dozen times in the Bay Area. Things got so bad that the same guys have approached me more than 3 times in some cases before realizing that they've already talked to me before.

    Incident #1:
A guy approached me while I was at the mall saying "hi" and striking up a conversation. During our short chat, this 20-something desi guy proceeds to tell me that he is the CIO of Fox News. At which time I pull out my iPhone and look him up using my LinkedIn app under the guise of adding him to my network. Turns out he is an engineer at a local company which he covers up by being embarassed and saying "I haven't updated my profile." I joke about how he moved up in his career so quickly - he then makes an excuse and walks away. I never hear from him again. Another reason to love technology!

    Incident #2:
I get approached while shopping at the local GAP store. Being a veteran of this form of solicitation, I respond by saying that I work for the San Jose Mercury News and that we are doing a story on Multi-Level Marketing schemes. I ask him if he knows anyone who would be willing to chat on the record. This guys says "Nope, don't know anyone" and walks away. I never see him again...

    Incident #3:
I am at the Nike store and get approached by this guy asking me if I work at Google (I do not). I tell him "Nope" and walk away before he can ask me another question. I have been approached by this same guy 2 more times at other stores (within 6 months) asking me similar questions. The 3rd time, I tell him - "We've spoken before - No, I don't work at Google, No, I'm not from Delhi and No, I'm not interested in what you are selling." He is stunned and walks away with his tail between his legs :)

    Incident #4:
The local Fry's is a popular hang out for Amway-types. I learned the hard way because I made my first mistakes here. Both guys that struck up a good conversation with me turned out to be Amway types. After the 2nd phone call, I tell them that if they call me again, I will report them to the authorities and Fry's for illegal solicitation and harassment.
This stops both people in their tracks. I never see them at Fry's again!

Bottom-line: Hold your ground, use technology and don't be afraid to kick them around a little bit. Saying "No" is golden!

We believe that this is a great idea to address our issues and at the same time allows us to do our share in the time of crisis. Please send the personalized email communication ASAP as the key lawmakers are in the process of discussing possible package to address the economic/housing crisis.

Even if this is not designed to directly help your situation, please understand that if such a proposal is accepted, it will make most green card applicants exempt which will free up visa numbers for those who do not want to seek such an exemption. So it is a win-win situation for all. Kindly send communications ASAP.

Few questions for the self proclaimed expert analyst who started this thread -
    1) How many lawmakers have you met to represent these provisions you claim to be so passionate about?
    2) Have you visited capitol hill and tried to understand what the congress thinks about EB legislation? I did - during the IV advocacy event last year with hundreds of eb2 and eb3 members.
    3) How many members here have you actually worked worked with? Because the people I know here who actually do the grass root work with me (both eb2 and eb3) do not care about theb category they belong to.

I know you do not have any real responses...only abuses which you responded with on the other thread.
Its funny how plainspeak is the one usually doling out the abuses but claims to be the victim.
Ahhh my friend forever_waiting, how are you. It is good to see your reply to the post. Will be do this the civilized way or the old way??

In direct response to your post

First i am not a expert nor an analyst musch less a self proclaimed expert analyst. Take that as a given and we can procced further

    1) How many lawmakers have you met to represent these provisions you claim to be so passionate about?
None because i do not believe in supporting, representing or furthering the agenda of an organization which has loop holes in it and is determental to my case

    2) Have you visited capitol hill and tried to understand what the congress thinks about EB legislation?
I did - during the IV advocacy event last year with hundreds of eb2 and eb3 members.
No i have not. Why do i need to visit capitol hill and view in person what congress thinks about EB legislation when i can do the same by watching CSPAN(I am a regular watcher expecially when there is something immigrant related going on. All a process of expanding my knowlesge of immigration or do you think i got up yesterday morning and decided that i want to fight with IV. If you did then i am sorry i gave you more credit then that. And please do not start a new thread about how lazy i am and how i want others to work for me and how i just want the benefit without effort. That would be old and stale. If there is something to be done in which i believe i will be the first to jump in and volunteer

    3) How many members here have you actually worked worked with? Because the people I know here who actually do the grass root work with me (both eb2 and eb3) do not care about theb category they belong to.
YES and i never said you are not fair. I know EB2 and EB23 owkr toghether in IV. My efforts of meeting people have been made outside the scope of what you and others do. I am being modest when i say this but i was the first person in my company to make generate awareness about what IV did and how it is helping immigrants like us and encouraged them to visit the website and read about what IV is all about. This is about 75 to 100 indains (EB2 and EB3) in an organization of size 500 during teh time period 2006 to 2007. Now most of them were EB2 so they got their green card and i am sure are no longer on the IV forum anymore. I am sure those who are still on IV forum are EB3 like me. How much they parrticipate, it is hard to tell. Maybe they were smarter than me and got dissalusioned with IV way before i did. They might be porting or they might not be for all i know
Besides that i am pretty much regular on Murthy where i have provided advise or tried to help people with information whne i could (O f course all of this was H1B/ Visit Visa stuff). Even today on IV forum i am trying my level best to help peopl ewith information related to AOS/EAD/140/485 etc
I am sorry because what i did till now is nowhere near what you and other IV volunteers are doing but i do what i can when i can.

My friend forever_waiting, I hope i answered everything to your satisfaction

    As to the below
I know you do not have any real responses...only abuses which you responded with on the other thread. Its funny how plainspeak is the one usually doling out the abuses but claims to be the victim. I am sorry i am done trying to explain it to you all over again. May god grant you wisdom

If USCIS follows Vertical Policy after EB-3 becomes current, all the remaining visas will go to EB-2 India/China and will be used up completely. With the volume of demand for EB-3 India, unless some legislative relief comes EB-3 India's problem will not be solved.

However, by following horizontal policy, if EB-2 India/China is cleared and made current, Any spillover in EB-3 should be equally shared and EB-3 India's share will improve but in miniscule way.

Fighting for legislative relief is the only way out for EB-3 instead of dividing our community between EB-2 and EB-3

    china an economic superpower..;-)..good joke..

It is not simply that...immigraion is not always abt economics..its more and beyond... the US vision of a global melting pot has nothing to do with purchasing power of educated immigrants....

every desi here thinks he is that elusive golden goose..that the US govt has been waiting for...and to prove that they are ready to shove their hand up their arse and pull out the golden egg and exchange it for a piece of card..

i dont know who your financial advisor is who is suggesting that u buy a house in an economy that is in recession..

    btw..thanks for those red dots..

The naysayers saying that all assets backed by mortgage by securities are worthless. How can a freaking house become worthless? Yes its market value may have fallen but it is quite possible to increase the market value of houses by increasing demand. And how one can increase demand of houses? Simply by welcoming more skilled and educated foreign workers and making US immigration system more friendly to the immigrants who wants to stay here, buy a house here and raise a family. USA needs fresh blood not protectionist measures that will simply make it a country with huge tracts of land , low population density and constantly outmaneuvered in the international market by other economic superpowers like China.

I know on a humorous note I was thinking people who are married are worried about their family problems.People who are not married are worried about when they will get married.Don't know who has time to worry about some politicians marriage on top of that during elections time.

Ultimately everything boils down to corruption. Huge money is going down in the pockets of big media houses, it is so damn obvious...Hindustan times, IBN & NDTV carried pictures of Priyanka Gandhi's children for 3 days on the front page, I never saw pictures or anything on Chandrababu Naidu, Yedirappa, Badal, Gehlot, Shivraj Chauhan or for that reason anybody....these kids are more important than our grassroot leaders ? The family is talking about "Rahul kee Shaadee" and the whole media is printing that, nobody's asking them where were you and what you did in last 5 years ???

Here is the contact info of this author.

His email is The phone numbers are for his sales office of his book. I came to know about this guy from cable news show, I guess it was MSNBC, cant be sure.

I have already written a letter to this guy asking for help/suggestions. I will send a copy of that email to you too.

This man is legit. I found something more on this guy:

    This is from :

In Flight Capital, Mr. Heenan says that 1,000 people a day leave the U.S. to return to their home countries. While few countries monitor the quantity and quality of talent that has exited and returned, he says these are the talented people who help drive the pace of innovation in tech centers like Californias Silicon Valley. In the global war for top talent, our competitors arent taking prisoners, he writes. In his travels and research, Mr. Heenan interviewed repatriates in eight countries, including Ireland, Iceland, India, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Israel, and Mexico. Eight of the 11 Americans who shared Nobel prizes in physics and chemistry in the past three years were born elsewhere, and nearly 40 percent of Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate students are from abroad, notes Mr. Heenan, who has taught at the University of Pennsylvanias Wharton School and Columbia University.

I didn't mean to discourage. I meant that a better approach and much wider approach is needed to link GC and home purchase. This should not be specific to just Employement based Greencards.
There was already an interview on channel 46 (finance channel), where they talked about overhauling complete immigration system to suck the housing inventory. They threw ideas to invite almost anybody to come to united states provided they purchase a home in US.

If we approach government alone, we may find little traction. We definitely need to partner with other groups who are also in the process of opening up Immigration system and approach this administration. Thses groups could be European or asian or any country specific groups.

That being siad, sucking up housing inventory will not help the economy now at the current prices. The prices have to further come down to an extent that reflects Dollar strength, GDP prospects and countries massive debt levels. Otherwise, we will be putting in a floor to bubble that was created in housing sector.

do you have any better ideas ? if yes, please share. if no, then honestly such posts are discouraging.
we (immigrants) are not here to solve the world problems and as any sales / mktg person would say - the idea is to sell your case. That being said - 99.9 percent of the economists say that the economy will recover only after the housing backlog is cleared ..The policymakers realise this and hence they are showering incentives (almost 10, 000 dollars tax credit, reducing mortgage rates, HUD, LUD etc etc)
all the above are expensive to tax payers ...the cheapest way (not that it will solve all the backlog issue - but it will help greatly ..btw Greenspan had said that even if 200 - 300K houses were to be taken off the inventory, then it would greatly help ) ..the cheapest way is to just clear the backlog of immigration ..and it is well documented that once people get permanent residence status in US (or any country), the first thing they do is buy houses.

    Hello there

    Thanks for your service.

I needed to ask a very specific question about extending a B-2 visa towards the end of a six month stay for my mom; specifically if she becomes out-of-status during the duration when an EOS application is pending, if the EOS is subsequently denied; and if this (i.e. subsequent denial) voids a multi-year multiple entry visa? I am finding conflicting information on the internet even from USCIS sources about whether or not 212(g) applies when an EOS application is pending.

    Thanks for your time.

Yes a subsequent denial of an EOS application voids a multi year multiple entry visa.

Better than this discussion, we should put our energies on the new CIR bill and see if and how can we benefit from that.

I don;t have the necessary permissions to modify the poll. I have made a note of this so that moderators can ad it in.

Sorry.. i am just going through very busy days at work.
    I am trying .. please don't hate me :)

hopefulgc - also make the commitments clear! Its not just sufficient to support ( as in moral support) the cause. Its important to participate in it.

I think someone should change the Poll question to -

    Q) Do you commit to participate in a class action lawsuit against USCIS?

    1) Yes. I am willing to commit $500
    2) Yes. I'm willing to be a plaintiff ( full name and full contact info required)
    3) Yes. I'm willing to commit $500 and become a plaintiff as well
    4) No. I don't think it will work

It will make it clear to everyone voting 'Yes' what's expected of them.

Even Muslims in Gujarat have started realizing congress is good for nothing.Congress just makes promises that it never keeps up.Uses opportunistic politics.well of course you create opportunities that are helpful to people which will bring prosperity along with awareness.Increased awareness among masses means end to dynastic rule.So why keep up promises and shoot your self right?

    On the other hand Modi who doesn't even need Muslim votes in Gujarat has worked for overall development. In terms of this Imam from Gujarat;
'Seeing him work for two or three years after the riots, Muslims too felt they had an opportunity to prosper in the peaceful environment that Modi government was creating. He has provided an atmosphere which is conducive for those who want to trade peacefully in Gujarat. Therefore, intelligent Muslims supported BJP during 2007 Assembly polls'

Apparently there this group called ,'Tablighis ' who have foreign funding ( which was of course was checked by Modi govt) working towards keeping the hatred alive. It's anybody's guess who benefits from such hatred apart from congress party.

    This guy also says:
'But let me tell you, projection of 2002 riots was much more grave than the situation actually was. '

But you know congress party that orchestrated sikh riots went to form govt ,Rajiv Gandhi speaking about sikh riots said 'When a banyan tree falls earth will shake' then he went to be country's PM indulging in all kinds of scams. Now his wife, children are holding offices.Congress party guys directly involved in the attacks also keep getting party tickets. That OK?

Agree hard work, entrepreneurship and other such qualities are in gujaratis's blood.Intersting how until Modi that time of prosperity never came.

Most of Telugu people are in I.T , but time for Hyd to get onto International map didn't come until CBN.Again during the current Congress regime in Hyd that time kind of took back step.

Name of that time is good governance.

I am not defending any party or person. Everybody is equally bad. Let, all the Muslims in Gujarat may start love him, and entire Gujarat may vote for him. That does not matter. My point is that those people who run for high office should not have any criminal background, despite how much qualified or skilled they are. Assume, if you involved in small domestic violence, and if you fail in small background check you will not get GC even if you are a Nobel Prize winner. Think about PM post and its responsibilities.

What are your options if the Canadian PR expires (go to CA get PR and come back to US) and you are still in the US ? OR say you are in your 4th/5th year of CA PR and then you then desire to go to CA, can you re-apply for the Canadian PR ? If you can, what is the procedure .... ?

Anyone who know abt this, please respond.
