what I meant was... you can reevaluate your situation from India.
Since there is nothing there in Canada anyway.
This is from personal experience. I went through the canadian PR also and now have lost it. I have some friends in Canada and India who had to move because of failure to file for GC before 6yr H1. My view of Canada and other feedback is
It is not a first world country as they want you to believe.
The cost of living is very high though the salary is very low.
Cost of goods is almost the same or most of the time higher than in US.
Medical is by state (where applicable) but doctors are not good and the wait time is large.
Taxes are very very high.
I can go on and onnnn...
My advice which will save you almost 3k-6k is dont do it if you are waiting for GC. Else you can do it at a short notice. The other options are, if you dont like 5year wait time from India, is to come back in H1 to the US and again reapply. At least this way you know how your GC turned out.

Most of the Bollywood movies are junk ( vulgar dances etc.) . As more and more people mature in the north, the market for stars like SRK will dwindle. I request everybody to follow classic Bengali/Mallu movies.
Does it matter? People love those movies.
Though we do see quality movies these days. the reason for junk is because the sheer number. They are high and thats why quality movies seem to look like they are few. Bollywood banks a lot on presentation of the movie and thats whjy they need to follow the "formula" which may look funny and absurd.
A lot of American movies are also crap, only few are worth watching.

This is my first post which was not positive. I am backing up :). I am proud to be part of IV. I beleive in this cause.
Buck up :) We all go through it. I never take it personally. I would definitely be happy if more and more members come forward and help, instead of "missing in action" when needed most.
We would be really happy if new members come up and take initiatives (i am now keeping my messages positive :) ) , more active members, more strength.
participation is contigeous, all we need is some self motivators and self starters to kindle the fire.

I like YSR because of his leadership qualities. I like his guts, determination and down to earth personality. I really don't see how removing the per country ceilings alone without increasing the anual quota will help the entire comminity. If you do that alone all it will do is make the date retrogressed for all the countries even further. So where's the gain?
Getting the anual quota increased, not counting dependents in the quota and recapturing visas from passed years will help EVERYBODY.
If people want to think that something petty as removing the per country quota is going to solve all our problms then all the best (and God bless us all) ! :cool:

The original post is fine only in parts but most of it is totally crap. He says his living standard has gone down because of L1s and H1bs and herds people coming from india, Dude you need to understand that this recession has not been caused by H1b and L1s or other IT workers coming to US, its because of the real estate boom and foolishness of american people who believed that real estate prices will keep on rising to INFINITY.. i don't have to explain how this recession started i hope majority of the people knows about it.. so stop blaming IT workforce for your living standard.. another example.. just seen what happened to GM and chrysler.. they failed to understand the market for small cars and fuel efficient cars.. instead they produced gas guzzlers like hummers.. so do you think they have the brightest minds. One basic note that Amway/Quixstar guys/preachers/creatures should understand is that "Not every business/job is for every one".
Few individuals can do only certain kinds of jobs. However, I notice that these Amway/Quixtar guys always project that, any dumbo can do this business (if followed rules). And also, they project that this is the only way earn money on this planet. If some one follows their own path (own ambitions), then they think that he/she is an idiot that they not joining them. For God's sake, Amway guys don't bug people. When some one said no means, Its NO. don't put pressure on strangers.
I will tell you my experience/observations with most of the Amway/Quixtar guys that I met.
1. They dream of early retirement, free money, free cruise trip, free vacations etc., where as in reality, they don't even buy good TV for them selves. I know few folks who purchased a 18 inches bathroom tv for $5.00. I am not against second hand a TV for less, but check the reality and see the difference between dreams and reality.
2. Forget about TV, it may not be an essential in life for everyone. I also noticed that they don't even purchase proper food/groceries. May be not are alike. I have see many in my past 15 years of life in US either in Bayarea or in Texas or in PA.
3. There was a Quixtar/Amway Summer conference few of years ago. I have seen 32 adult people stayed in a Single bedroom apartment (around 700 Sq Ft) for two nights. Yes, I literally counted people coming out of the door (right opposite to my apartment). I couldn't believe my eyes/brain initially but its truth.
I am not offending any one intentionally, but know the difference between reality and dreams.

There are few people here trying to mislead the biggest problem. When the Indians support SL Tamils, it is not just ethnic affinity, it is also based on our country's own interest. If India could not handle a country like SL, then what else we can do. I dont like the way India handling this situation, completely ignoring the deaths of thousands of innocent people. Even today, there was bombing on the hospital. It has become common now to bomb schools and hospitals and trying to justify that.
I still find it hard to equate a person death > tens of 1000's of innocent people death.
But still wanting for more deaths. India should step in and stop this genocide. It is shame on us to turn our face and watching it.

Laws you quoted are for US residents, not for those wanting to be US residents. Country quota, I believe, is more sensitive and difficult to change. Of course, it is not working for the original intent to not have people from a few countries making US as their home.
Work-arounds, we are so familiar with such as AOS, EAD, H1B beyond 6 yrs, etc., are easier to get in. For the current situation, simple work-around could be to adjudicate a case when all is good except the visa number, and send an interim GC card until visa number is available. When visa number is available, interim card could be replaced with a permanent card. In a nutshell, replace EAD/AP with an interim permanent resident card, and replace it with a permanent card when visa number is available.

My EB2 PD is Octo'2005 & receipt date of I-485 is Aug'17 2007 (receipt date on the receipt received from USCIS)-filed at NSC(although online it shows first Aug'2007 & now October'2007). NSC online update shows Aug 10'2007. What are the chances that my application will be processed in Aug'2008? I received a soft LUD on 07/03/2008 on my I-485/ead/travel document but nothing after that.

I work on full time basis. have pending 485 and do have EAD and AP, per my attorney decided to get visa stamped on my passport so that do not have to renew AP and EAD every year. I do not intend to leave the employer neither does my employer has any intention of kicking me out.

Nice point truefacts. If indeed we were able to somehow communicate this system to folks in India it would be great. Let us keep the hopes that this will happen some day. Might be due to desperation or some major calamity but somehow people will realize that this corrupt system is unustainable and needs dramatic repair.
By the way there is another thread with lists of people who died with a request for prayer!! This is another example of how manipulative personalities not only create a chaotic unsustainable regime while they live but also leave a chaotic system once they die.

I guess many have mentioned this before.
Diversity should not be based on "country" as well. For example I can easily say that "India" has to be considered as "20 different countries", if it divided based on diversity. And probably many of the europian countries combined should be "1 country".
Means if the diversity quota is 100 per year, to call for proper diversity.....
